Trouble In The Jackson Household

WTVF-TV in Nashville reports that Alan Jackson's daughter Alexandra "Ali" Jackson, age 20, was arrested early on Wednesday morning after police say she assaulted an officer during a traffic stop in Nashville. After Ali was booked on charges of resisting arrest, assault, and underage drinking, she was bonded out at around 5 AM local time. Police said she was the passenger in an SUV that was stopped for speeding on 12th Avenue South. According to an affidavit, Ali got out of the vehicle and started to argue with the police officers. According to police, she refused their requests for her to get back in the vehicle, and then hit one of the officers in the chest. The affidavit also stated that after Jackson was cuffed, she told police that "Her father would do anything she wanted him to do." Ali was released on a $35,000 bond and her court date is set for September 23. Her father was at the Station Inn on 12th Avenue South on Tuesday night to celebrate the release of his latest record The Bluegrass Album.

Not Sure Why You'd Want To Know, But....

This is one of those web sites that's kind of cool, but serves no real purpose. It's called http://www.howmanypeopleareinspacerightnow.com/. And yes, it tells you how many people are circling above the earth at any given time, what their names are, their nationality, rank and how many days they've been up there. Obviously it doesn't change very often so there's no reason to check it every day, but it is interesting. By the way, there are currently 6 people in orbit, just so you know.

Linda Ronstadt's Voice Silenced By Parkinsons

Sad news today. One of music's most enduring voices may have been silenced. Linda Ronstadt has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and revealed during an interview with the AARP Blog that symptoms began to occur eight years ago and now she "can't sing a note." "Blue Bayou", "When Will I Be Loved", so many great hits! Get more info here.

How Hot Do You Like It?

Do you like hot peppers? Do you like them enough to steal them? Well, apparently someone does! A man in Des Moines, Iowa claims that someone stole three hot peppers from a plant on his screened-in porch one night this week. No wonder someone’s sweating his peppers- they are supposedly among the hottest in the world and sell for $120 a pound! Now we understand why he’s so fired up! Get more here!

My, How Times Have Changed!

Found this fascinating article about dating advice from 1938. There are some real gems here like:

"Don't talk about clothes or try to describe your new gown to a man. Please and flatter your date by talking about the things he wants to talk about."

Yeah, that'll fly these days!

"Careless women never appeal to gentlemen. Don't talk while dancing, for when a man dances, he wants to dance"

Wow! Check the rest of these "tips"out here:

A Perfectly Peculiar Puppy Tale

This is just bizarre! A man in Orlando, Florida stole two puppies from a pet store Saturday by putting them down his pants! Surveillance video first shows the dognapper taking an $800 pug from its crib, shoving the dog in his trousers and leaving the store. He then returns and does the same thing with a $750 miniature dachshund. Apparently, the thief used what appeared to be a normal family as his cover, so as not to seem suspicious. He walked into the store with another man, a woman and a toddler. Police have yet to "collar" the suspect! But when they do, he'll really be in the dog house!

Now This Is A Vending Machine That We Need!

We gotta get one of these! To encourage people to 'take a break' from work, beer maker Amstel and its ad agency create a vending machine that rewards people with free beer for doing....nothing! Called the 'Amstel Pause', participants only had to push a button, stand in front of the vending machine and wait for three full minutes. When the three minutes were up, they would be rewarded with a cold can of Amstel beer! Every office should have one, don't you think?

I Want Candy!

If you have a smartphone or tablet, chances are you have Candy Crush Saga. The game, where you match color-coordinated candies in a grid for points, is super-popular- in fact, it supposedly rakes in more than $600,000 a day. The game is free…so where’s all that dough coming from? In-app purchases, of course- players can buy additional lives from the iTunes store, preventing them from having to wait half an hour for more free lives. These purchases are just a few taps away, and when you’re in the throes of a full-force Candy Crush addiction, they’re tempting. No wonder Business Insider reporter Megan Rose Dickey racked up a $127 bill in just one week!

Fortunately, her obsession paid off for the rest of us- Dickey discovered a cheat that unlocks unlimited lives. Here’s how it works: on your iPhone or iPad, go to “Settings,” hit “General,” then scroll down to “Date & Time.” Turn off the “Set Automatically” feature and change the time to several hours in the future. This way, you confuse the game by thinking it’s a different time, restoring all your lives and allowing you to play on for free. Good luck getting anything else done today.

This Ice Cream Will "Quack" You Up!

What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Chocolate? Vanilla? Rocky Road? Maybe some exotic flavor. Take a look at the picture to the left and tell us if you have any idea what flavor it is. Don't worry you won't be able to. It's called Foie Gras Ice Cream. And in case you didn't know it, Fois Gras is a fancy name for....are you ready?....duck liver. Yep, duck liver ice cream! I guess you can make anything into ice cream, just ask Ben & Jerry's, but duck liver? Get the full story here. What the most exotic or weird flavor of ice cream you've ever tried? Call me boring, I'm basically a chocolate guy, but duck liver? No way!

Octomom In The News Again...And It Ain't Good!

I just don't get this woman! TMZ is reporting that Octomom Nadya Suleman is being investigated for welfare fraud! The site claims the L.A. County of Welfare and Fraud department has been looking into just how much she made from her porn video and found she earned over $17,000 in six months, and was overpaid more than $15,000 in welfare funds during that period. This could lead to charges against Suleman, and if convicted she could face prison time. Welfare fraud is bad enough, but being overpaid because you made a porn video? I keep asking myself, what about all those kids? How do you possibly explain this to them as they get older?

Carrie Underwood Sings The Praises Of SNF!

As we've been talking about, Carrie Underwood is the new voice of ‘Sunday Night Football,’ and everyone’s been wondering how her version will sound — especially since NBC said she was their first and only choice upon learning Faith Hill wouldn’t return in 2013. Well, the intro is finally out, and you can decide for yourself how it sounds! Here's a link to the song.
Carrie's version of the iconic theme song is done in her own style, showcasing her big, powerful voice, which will rev everyone up for some football. Underwood’s ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night’ is a little more rock n’ roll than Hill’s rendition, and the songstress really lets loose with her vocal riffs, which is perfect with the heavy guitars in the song.
It’s refreshing to hear a new version of the song and exciting that Underwood truly made it her own while staying true to the overall feel. This has been a big week for ‘Sunday Night Football’ and Carrie, as the SNF bus was also revealed, showing Underwood is front and center on the tour bus, surrounded by lots of fan favorite football stars.

The football season will kick off on Sept. 8 when the New York Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys, and Underwood will take on the classic, memorable SNF theme song.
